About the event
Overview
The Making Waves program is an aquatic therapy and adaptive kayaking initiative designed for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to improve physical health, boost confidence, and promote social integration through water-based activities. This pilot will focus on water familiarization and confidence-building, inclusive aquatic therapy, and a progressive transition to adaptive kayaking, empowering participants with functional gains and new recreational opportunities.
Why Water-Based Therapy?
Low-Impact & Accessible: The buoyancy of water reduces joint strain, making movement easier.
Water Familiarization Builds Confidence: Helps overcome fear of water and makes aquatic activities more inclusive.
